This is my response to the Hashnode Technical Writing Bootcamp session 2 Task.

To make things easier for you and I, I will create an outline where we can both easily access my thoughts. This is also an open letter to myself, when anytime I feel lost or unmotivated to write content, I come here and read what my reasons are for starting a technical writing blog and then I get motivated all over again and I keep pushing. So, here goes:

  1. What is blogging to me? I feel I need to TOTALLY understand this 'blogging' concept, what my definition of blogging is.

  2. What am I blogging for? Here, I will understand why I picked up a pen and a paper(not entirely in the literal sense, ya know!) to begin writing blog posts on software development in the first instance.

If you need to understand why you should blog as a software developer, check out my post on that here: adetolajesulayomi.substack.com/p/technical-..

  1. What is my idea of successful blogging or what does successful blogging mean to me? I need to understand the point where I can say, yes! I have achieved what I set out to achieve when I started blogging, that this point, yes! It is that peak for me, I have gotten this and that, so to me, I have become a successful blogger(cringe worthy?๐Ÿ˜…). I think you understand what I am saying now? Yeah? Good, so let's set out to answer these questions!

What is Blogging?

Blogging to me is putting out content that simply focuses on the world of coding and computing, everything that has to do with coding and the life of a (newbie) software developer. These blog posts will be an online diary of some sorts where I can put out what I learn, advises, tips I found out about, simple lifestyle hacks for software developers, my day to day activities on special occasions etc.

What am I blogging for?

I understand what my blog posts are about, now, I need to know why I am blogging, why did I pick up my pen and paper or in this case my fingers and my phone, LOL. What is my reason for blogging? This will help me understand why I create technical blog posts at all. First, I blog to document my progress as a newbie software developer. I create blog posts so I can tell people why I started learning software development at all, how I started, what I learnt today, projects that I am working on and so many more. Simply, to put out my whole journey from the start.

Check out my tweet on why I started software development as well as the #100daysofcode here: twitter.com/l_ayomi/status/1320549045383946..

Second, I blog because of job opportunities I could get. My belief is that when I get this level of credibility and recognition as a result of all the amazing content I have put out there, I do not need to stress so much to get jobs, certain employers will be the one to offer me jobs, why? Because they know the content I have put out there, it is recognized, so they can trust me to do their work well, since I know my stuff enough for it to be read by many people. Amazing yeah?

Lastly, it is my own way of giving back to the community. I have read so many blog posts that without them, I would be so lost. I want to do that same thing for people, whenever they are stuck on an issue, they can read my posts and viola! It is resolved.

What is my idea of successful blogging or what does successful blogging mean to me?

I know what blogging for me entails, I know why I blog now I want to understand, what successful blogging is to me? The peak for me or when I realize, oh hey! I am now a successful blogger, will be when I have smashed all my blogging goals, what I set out to achieve in the first place and I get them all done. Successful documentation of my journey, my credibility getting me job opportunities and when people begin to find my posts really really helpful, these are all what successful blogging is to me!
